1.0 Policy Statement

EMSc (UK) Ltd is, in accordance with Government targets, committed to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption, and to the elimination of waste in so far as is reasonably practicable without adversely affecting the working conditions of staff or impinging on the activities of the public or visitors using the company’s facilities.

1.1 General Principles

EMSc (UK) will achieve these goals by:

• Reducing energy consumption
• Reducing energy expenditure
• Investing in energy conservation
• Reducing reliance on fossil fuels
• Increasing dependence on renewable energy sources
• Complying with, or exceeding all legislation and government targets in so far as reasonably practicable
• Introducing an energy monitoring and targeting strategy

1.2 Responsibilities

Departmental Heads and Facility Managers will have responsibility for controlling the operational consumption of energy and water within their areas, in so far as reasonably practicable.
The Managing Director will have overall responsibility for the implementation of this policy.

1.3 Energy Management Responsibilities

Energy Management responsibilities will be as follows:

(i) Monitor progress in achieving the objectives of the Energy Management implementation plan
(ii) Monitor and target energy & water usage, developing strategies for the reduction of energy & water use
(iii) Review Company’s energy performance
(iv) Evaluate the benefits of energy management
(v) Develop an investment programme for energy efficiency schemes supported where possible by grant aid
(vi) Assist with developing strategies for the use of green technologies within Company’s vehicles
(vii) Advise on the selection of energy efficient equipment
(viii) Advise on the choice of fuel type and tariff selection
(ix) Promote energy efficiency throughout the Company, raising staff and end-user awareness
(x) Maintain records and produce regular reports on consumption and related expenditure
