Welcome to the latest roundup of Powerstar news, keeping you up to date with the latest activities, news, and events.
1) The key to the business case
In his interview with the Energyst, Powerstar’s CEO, Dr. Alex Mardapittas, explained how energy resilience underpins the business case for energy storage technology in the UK.
Alex stated that for some companies, the view of energy storage is not purely as a device for revenues but rather as a way of protecting the needs of the company due to the energy resilience that it offers.
The resilience he alludes to is best evidenced in Powerstar VIRTUE’s full, site-wide Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) capabilities which can offer seamless support to the load in case of an energy-related failure, ensuring no downtime is endured by the customer.
2) Regulatory insights
Powerstar recognises the importance of keeping up to date on the changing energy network and industry and is aware of the regulations that impact upon it and its customers.
Consequently, Powerstar attended an Ofgem event organised through its membership with Regen which explained the current consultation on current access arrangements and the forward-looking charging arrangement.
The event was engaging and informative and allowed Powerstar to gain greater knowledge on the regulatory issues affecting the energy industry, which will enable Powerstar to better tailor its solutions for the market.
3) European Innovation
As a leading-edge smart energy solutions company which places a high value on continuing to innovate, as seen through the latest innovation Powerstar SO-LO, Powerstar takes every opportunity to explore the leading ideas, innovations and technologies that could be developed to produce enhanced energy efficiencies.
As a result of this commitment, Powerstar joined the EIC Innovators Summit European Innovation Kitchen in Berlin recently. The summit was an excellent experience as a wealth of knowledge was shared and ideas discussed as the latest energy efficiency and high-end sensor technologies that bring together the integrated energy systems of the future were displayed.
Powerstar was invited to the summit as part of its co-funded project with the European Commission Horizon 2020 programme under the SME instrument (Phase II), which aims to pilot test a smart energy solution by integrating the established Powerstar voltage optimisation technology with VIRTUE energy storage solution to create a Powerstar Virtual Power Station (PVPS).
