Roach Bros was established in 1860 and is still a family run business today.
The company specialises in pelagic fish species and has done so for over 30 years procuring mackerel from the North East Atlantic, processing in Kingston-upon-Hull and selling to a wide range of retail and wholesale outlets.
The purpose built factory based in Hull supplies produce to a major retailer throughout the UK and work to the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety.
The company were exceeding the available kVA capacity from their existing incoming supply and were faced with either having to look at building a new sub-station at a cost of around £100,000 or finding ways to reduce the demand on the supply.
Voltage optimisation was identified as a viable technology for the site and Powerstar were invited to survey the site and offer a solution.
Following a site evaluation and load analysis, the Powerstar team recorded incoming voltage levels up to 245.6V, with the average voltage delivered at 240.3V. The installation of a 500kVA Powerstar voltage optimisation system was recommended to reduce the incoming voltage by 12.5V.
Following installation the average demand for the last 3 months is now 378kVA which previously was up to 419kVA with a limit of 420kVA.
