Droushia Heights Hotel, Cyprus, is located near the Akamas National Park, around 10km from the fishing harbour of Polis. The 48 room hotel is popular with ramblers, botanists, cyclists, rock-climbers, archaeologists and bird watchers and has recently undergone a complete renovation, upgrading the hotel to a high standard. Droushia Heights rooms suit all requirements along with a lounge bar, cafeteria, restaurant,
gym and conference room.
Following the refurbishment of the hotel, the management at Droushia Heights were actively seeking ways to reduce their energy consumption and carbon footprint. The hotel has always been proactive in trying to reduce waste and be environmentally friendly and approached Powerstar to see if voltage optimisation would be a suitable system to help their entire site be more energy efficient.
The management team of the hotel trusted the voltage optimisation technology and installed a PowerStar 114kVA. Prior to the installation EMSc (Cyprus) Ltd performed a full site survey, recording the incoming voltage and provided a proposal which guaranteed energy savings above 7%. Upon the installation a standard verification process (IPMVP- International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol) was carried out to verify the guaranteed saving results. The electricity consumption of the hotel has been annually reduced by 20.648kWh and 15.8 tonnes of CO2 emissions saved per year.
Carbon Emissions saved per year: 15.8 Tonnes
Annual electricity bills reduced by: £3,395
Payback period: 2.2 Years
