European University Cyprus in its efforts to enhance its Corporate Social Responsibility actions searched for the best solution that would reduce energy consumption for the premises of the University.
The Solution
The University management team, after research, concluded that the Powerstar voltage optimisation technology was the best solution not only for the reduction of energy consumption, but among other its short payback period, increased life expectancy of equipment, reduced maintenance costs and guaranteed results.
Education facilities provide the ideal environment for voltage optimisation technology. Inductive loads such as motors and fluorescent lighting combined with catering facilities, IT equipment, servers and associated cooling systems can all achieve increased efficiency and substantial energy savings.
Savings & Benefits
- Actual reduction in energy consumption: 11.9%
- Guaranteed reduction in energy consumption: 6.3%
- Tonnes of carbon dioxide saved: 57 tonnes
- Return on Investment: 2 Years
Following the impressive saving results from the Powerstar installation at the North building, the management team decided to have a second unit installed at their South building. EMSc (Cyprus) Ltd engineers performed a site survey, recorded the income voltage of the building and suggested the installation of a Powerstar 179 kVA .
- Actual reduction in energy consumption: 8.8%
- Guaranteed reduction in energy consumption: 7.5%
- Annual kWh not used: 21,831kWh
- Return on Investment: 3.5 Years
