Ski Dubai is an indoor ski resort in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) which is a part of Mall of The Emirates, one of the largest shopping malls in Dubai.
The resort is owned by Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) Group, a Dubai based developer of shopping malls in the Middle East.
The facility is first indoor ski resort in the Middle East with an mountain themed, winter setting with skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing. 22,500 square meters is covered with real snow all year round.
MAF Group was actively seeking ways to reduce its impact on the environment by reducing their carbon footprint and reducing their overall energy consumption.
Driving down energy costs and CO2 emissions was a major challenge for the company.
After investigating different energy saving solutions, MAF Group were keen to know more about voltage optimisation.
Following the delivery of a number of technical presentations by the Powerstar team to the Ski Dubai engineers, voltage optimisation was identified as a quick, effective and efficient solution.
A full site survey was carried out to establish Ski Dubai’s energy reducing capabilities via Powerstar voltage optimisation. The site survey uncovered a potential, significant energy saving via Powerstar. Ski Dubai decided to install a 575kVA system on their MCC panel feeding the ammonia compressors which produced the snow.
