Coffee Break with… Bethan Lilleker

Once a month, we share a morning coffee break with one of the Powerstar team to find out more insight into their day-to-day role and why they enjoy working within the Energy sector.

This month we’ve caught up with Bethan Lilleker, our Project Coordinator.

What was your first job role within the Energy Sector?

Powerstar is the first company I have worked for in the energy sector. Previously I have worked in the medical instrumentation sector in a similar role to the Projects Coordinator role I am in now.

Describe a typical day at Powerstar

Every day brings its own challenges and due to the nature of the business, we deal with clients across a variety of sectors meaning that no two days are ever the same.

What do you enjoy the most about working in Energy?

I think that most people are conscious of their own carbon footprint at home so I like that my work consists of making a bigger impact across businesses to help them reach their net zero goals.

Are there any drawbacks to working in this sector?

As the projects are bespoke, once you feel like you understand how one system works, the next one will never be the same so there is a world of information to learn. However, I am looking forward to learning as much as possible during my career at Powerstar.

What’s your proudest achievement to date?

Graduating with a 2:1 in Criminology from Nottingham Trent University.

Do you have any hobbies outside of work?

I have an Instagram food blog where I like to document all the different restaurants I try (I also have recently started working out with a personal trainer to balance out the food blog!) I have a cockapoo called Ralph who I love spending time with.

Advancements in technology often cause significant changes in many industries, such as energy. What recent technological advances have had the biggest impact on your personal life?

I think the option to shop online has saved so much time for everyone. It means less trips to the shops and more time to spend on the things we enjoy.

If you had to give one piece of advice to people seeking jobs in energy, what would it be?

Don’t be discouraged by the technical side of energy – everyone started knowing little to nothing.

Why Powerstar?

The products are so bespoke and unique that it’s exciting to think what next?

Describe Team Powerstar in 3 words
