Coffee Break Q&A with Sam Reid

Date

In this month’s coffee break we’re talking to a new member of the Powerstar team, Sam Reid.

Sam recently joined Powerstar as Project Delivery Manager at our Sheffield Head Office. Here’s what he had to say…

What’s your role with Powerstar?

As Project Deliver Manager, I will be responsible for both VO and Virtue projects. As part of my role I am also looking at improvement of business processes.

What did you do before Powerstar?

Prior to Powerstar I worked for a company that builds Hydrogen Electrolysers. My role was internal projects, building a new test facility and changing the facility layout to allow the installation of new manufacturing equipment.

What have you learned in your first few weeks here?

I’ve been meeting with teams across the business and understanding the current business processes. There is a great team here at Powerstar. Everyone is committed to getting our products to the customer and working together on challenges.

Are there any changes you’d like to implement?

I’m planning to implement changes to our business software internal project process to facilitate improved project delivery. This will deliver better visibility across the business on projects and mean more efficient delivery.

What’s your focus for the next few months?

Understanding the business processes to facilitate more efficient ways of working across all our project delivery team.

List 3 things you love about Powerstar?

  • The team.
  • We have fantastic products with a lot of opportunity in the UK and internationally.
  • The ambitions of the company going forward.

3 random facts about you.

  • I have a 9 month old daughter so sometimes I might come with bags under my eyes…
  • I used to work for Harrods in London and lived there for 8 years before coming back home to Sheffield.
  • I was a national medallist swimmer many years ago.

Sam has has made a real impact on our business in the short time he’s been here and well and truly feels part of the Powerstar family. If you are interested in working for Powerstar, take a look at our current vacancies here.
