As the energy transition in the UK gathers pace, it is becoming clear that the implementation of energy storage is pivotal to the success of the future low carbon economy as a whole.
This has been magnified recently by the astonishing feat of the UK not utilising coal power for 3 consecutive days in April 2018 as renewables contribute to a greater share of the mix. However, despite this positive movement, there are concerns such as those outlined within the National Grid’s summer outlook that outlines curtailment of renewables will be necessary due to the problems intermittent sources cause the grid. An increase in energy storage would help maximise renewable generation by storing generation within energy storage units instead of being directly connected to the grid and being curtailed, and therefore there would be less wasted energy and a greener energy mix.
Many organisations have already invested heavily in energy efficiency technologies, such as Combined Heat and Power (CHP), and may consequently be reluctant to invest in energy storage despite its transformative role in the energy transition. However, the belief that energy storage and other technologies cannot work together is misguided and this webinar will explain how the presence of energy storage can maximise the benefits of existing technologies such as CHP and PV.
During the webinar, attendees will be informed of the variety of ways in which energy storage can be integrated with existing energy efficiency technologies to optimise issues such as security of supply, energy efficiency, energy savings, and demand side response.
The full Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) capabilities of leading energy storage solutions, such as Powerstar VIRTUE, integrated with energy efficiency methods such as voltage regulation and CHP will ensure that organisations can optimise their use of energy resulting in energy cost and consumption reductions on a day-to-day basis as well as having increased energy resilience and the ability to continue operations in the event of energy-related failures.
