Demand on the electricity network in the UK continues to grow year-on-year, and it is predicted to keep growing at a fast rate for the foreseeable future due to the ever-growing reliance and advancement of technology. The recent UK Clean Growth Strategy highlights the ways in which this demand can be met in a smooth and sustainable manner and principle amongst them is a move towards a decentralised energy network.
The concept of a decentralised energy network is increasingly gaining momentum due to increasing fears over the security of the energy supplied from the grid. This is because of the harsh statistics showing that blackouts or brownouts are becoming more frequent with a staggering 46% increase recorded in 2016 compared to the number of occurrences in 2015.
This free, short seminar, taking place at the Ingenious office in Piccadilly, will explore the concept of the decentralised network which will require the simultaneous uptake of several elements such as distributed generation, distributed storage, energy efficiency and demand response. A decentralised network utilises integrated energy storage technology to combine all these elements and form microgrids capable of balancing the network and providing businesses with cheaper, more reliable, locally generated and utilised energy.
During the seminar, delegates will be informed of the current restrictions and limitations on the UK electricity supply network and the ever-increasing demand it faces. The main focus of the seminar will discuss the concept of a decentralised energy network as a solution to this rapidly growing demand and increase energy resilience for end users.
The implementation of intelligent energy storage solutions will provide reliable energy at a much cheaper cost to the end user, whilst simultaneously helping to balance demand on the network, and, when combined with local generation and underpinned with UPS, reduce transmission losses and increases the security of the supply.
The event will address these issues from the perspectives of several industry experts and provide the insights from:
