Powerstar, UK manufacturer of leading-edge smart energy solutions, is pleased to announce that one of the company’s Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) associates, Dr. Olivia Zeng, was nominated for the prestigious KTP Person of the Year Award. KTPs are a three-way working relationship between a company, a recent graduate, and a university, which has Government backing from Innovate UK.
The national scheme encourages companies to innovate whilst also providing graduates with the opportunity to hone their skills through the application of their specialist knowledge in a commercial environment.
The KTP Awards recognise exceptional outcomes from industry-academic partnerships supported through the highly-valued KTP programme.
Dr. Zeng, who has been working at Powerstar as a Power System Engineer, was commended for her work at the business, including her role in a recent 1MWh Powerstar VIRTUE energy storage solution installation.
During this installation, Dr. Zeng helped coordinate the international project team and develop the detailed task plan, resulting in a shortened period of production for the solution which provided huge value to, and was welcomed by, all involved parties.
Commenting on her nomination, Dr. Olivia Zeng said: “I am very proud to be nominated for this award and to be recognised for how I have applied my knowledge commercially. It is great to be able to put the expertise gained from my PhD in a working environment, and I am grateful for the opportunity Powerstar have given me to do so.”
Solon Mardapittas, Chief Technical Officer at Powerstar, added: “Aside from her outstanding professional qualities, Olivia is also a joy to work with and we are thrilled to see her get the recognition she deserved through this nomination. Olivia’s expertise has been fundamental in identifying the solutions that are required to improve the energy profile of our customers’ site and how such solutions can and should be implemented.
“In her role Olivia has worked tirelessly to transfer and embed her knowledge gained from her PhD in Control and Power Electronics from Sheffield Hallam University to the benefit of Powerstar. Olivia’s skills in leadership and project management have been pivotal in helping us to further refine our commercial project offering.”
The presence of KTP associates at Powerstar further demonstrates the company’s commitment to innovation and personal development.
