Powerstar, the market leading energy storage and voltage optimisation brand, is once again exhibiting its innovative battery-based energy storage solutions, VIRTUE and VIRTUE EV at the Energy Management Exhibition (EMEX) in the ExCel Centre, London from the 22nd – 23rd November, on stand D34.

During EMEX, on Wednesday 22nd, Dr Alex Mardapittas, CEO of Powerstar and inventor of the VIRTUE energy storage solution, will be speaking as an expert on the Renewables, Supply and Storage panel on the topics of, ‘how to future-proof electric charging points’ and ‘the basics of battery storage technology’.

Powerstar VIRTUE is an integrated energy management and microgrid solution with smart grid control. It captures electricity produced by renewable and non-renewable sources and stores it for use when required, providing savings on electricity costs by enabling businesses to utilise the stored energy to go off-grid during times of peak DUoS and Triad tariffs.

The solution also provides customers access to Demand Side Response (DSR) contracts, alongside full Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) capabilities, which provides businesses with resilience by ensuring a constant supply to the load is maintained at all times, even when a supply issue is detected.

VIRTUE EV, launched in December 2016 is a combined DC rapid/fast charger and energy storage system with an integrated solar canopy. The solution combats many of the obstacles experienced by the EV market by introducing local rapid charging and storage to greatly reduce demand spikes and supply the highest possible charging rate by utilising stored energy.

With energy storage being a key talking point in the industry and at the event, Powerstar is encouraging attendees to visit the stand to discuss their energy resilience and energy storage requirements, in addition to any questions they may have. The company’s team of experts will be on hand to highlight the technology’s potential within the future UK energy landscape, including the important issue of supply stability under increasing demand on the network.

Dr Alex Mardapittas, CEO of Powerstar said, “With more discussion on maximising renewable generation and utilising local energy, it is clear to see how battery-based energy storage solutions will be a key driver in a more decentralised energy framework in the future, as it provides regional structures with an efficient, effective and stable supply of green energy.

“Alongside a decentralised energy network, with the Government’s plan to ban the sale of all new petrol and diesel cars by 2040, there is also an opportunity for storage to support the growing electric vehicle market, as current grid networks do not have enough capacity to support the inevitable demand increase.

“At EMEX we will be showcasing energy storage’s capabilities in these areas, alongside the wide range of other benefits the technology provides.”
