Powerstar has become one of the accredited suppliers to the aerospace, defence and security sector to hold the Joint Supply Chain Accreditation Register (JOSCAR) Mark, used by some of the largest companies in the defence sector to select pre-approved partners.
Established as a cross-sector, collaborative solution that allows major customers in defence-related sectors, alongside the Ministry of Defence, to reduce the time, cost and resources associated with appointing trusted partners. Centrally held data on all approved suppliers allows registered buyers to easily search for, analyse and appoint suppliers, with a configurable, risk-based heat map allowing them to assess an individual supplier on level of risk as well as expertise and capability.
With a growing and diverse set of regulatory requirements presented to the defence industry, JOSCAR allows third party supply chain risk to be more effectively managed, while meeting all regulatory and corporate governance standards required.
Alongside the MoD, JOSCAR is used to assess and appoint suppliers by major defence contractors including BAE Systems, General Dynamics and Rolls Royce. Qualification as a supplier is by invite only from one of JOSCAR’s major buyers. JOSCAR is jointly awarded by the ADS, which represents over 1,100 businesses across the aerospace, defence, security and space sectors, and supplier information and risk management specialist Hellios.
