Established in 1853, the University of Melbourne is a public-spirited institution that makes distinctive contributions to society in research, learning and teaching and engagement. It’s consistently ranked among the leading universities in the world, with international rankings of world universities placing it as number 1 in Australia and number 34 in the world (Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2013-2014)
The University of Melbourne had researched voltage optimisation prior to installing a Powerstar MAX system into it’s Law Building.
When looking to reduce the electricity consumption in the ICT building voltage optimisation was the obvious choice.
After a thorough site survey and voltage monitoring the average voltage was recorded at 248V and as high as 251V.
The Powerstar team recommended the installation of a 1000kVA Powerstar MAX voltage optimisation system to reduce the voltage by an average of 27.5V
SAVINGS AND BENEFITS
The savings verification shows that over the course of 12 months the ICT building is saving 17.6% of electrical consumption, which equates to an annual carbon reduction of 338.23 tonnes.
