Battery Energy Storage
Using a battery on-site to store renewable or grid supplied energy.
The client are owners of rural cottages which provide holiday accommodation. Based in the Norfolk countryside, the site has large renewable capacity. The cottages are available to rent all year round. The client predominately was looking to maximise its on-site generation to provide cost savings as well as reducing its impact on the environment by reducing the amount of energy consumed from the grid. Additionally, it wanted an asset capable of partaking in grid contracts to provide the site with new revenue opportunities to support the investment into its holiday cottages.
After a full and thorough site survey and analysis of the site requirements, Powerstar recommended the installation of a 100kW VIRTUE Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) combined with voltage regulation and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) capabilities.
The Powerstar battery unit, installed in 2017, has enabled the site to maximise its on-site renewables through the process of renewable firming, which provided a 57.5% reduction in energy consumption. Additionally, it is providing the site with an optimised voltage output, ability to access additional revenues through grid contracts and supply resilience with peace of mind through its UPS capabilities.

Using a battery on-site to store renewable or grid supplied energy.
Reduce reliance on grid supplied power with on-site electricity generation.
Optimising the incoming voltage to your site to improve quality, saving energy and costs.
The ability to continue your core activities without impact from disruption to your power supply. Powerstar technology provides power resilience to a whole site through any combination of its three core technologies.
